Landmark Nottingham bar and restaurant in sudden closure

The Riverbank Bar & Kitchen, the landmark pub and restaurant on Trent Bridge in Nottingham, has suddenly closed and has been sold by its owners.

The new owners of the Riverbank had not been identified as we went to press. It had been owned by Robin and Stuart Perkins, the brothers behind the popular Tom Brown’s Brasserie in Gunthorpe. It is also unclear whether or not staff at the Riverbank have lost their jobs.

A statement on the Riverbank’s website read: “The venue is now closed with immediate effect.

“We would like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff and customers old and new for making it such a special place, we’ve had seven wonderful years.

“We are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience caused for people with future bookings but be assured all deposit payments will be paid back in full.

“We are working on a smooth transition with the new owners to ensure all of the bookings booked in the Gallery Function Room still go ahead.”
