EasyHotel targets Leicester opening

EasyHotel, the “super budget” chain owned by EasyJet’s Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, has targeted Leicester for a 100-bed hotel.

A potential Leicester hotel is part of a development roll-out that will see EasyHotel add 4,500 rooms outside of London.

If it goes ahead, the Leicester hotel would be EasyHotels’ first in the East Midlands – although it is also targeting Northampton.

The brand currently has hotels in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham – as well as in Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, UAE, Bulgaria and Belgium.

In an internal document, EasyHotel has identified Leicester and Northampton as “regions which show great potential”, adding that “certain regions have capacity for more than one hotel”.

Last month, Haji-Ioannou confirmed that another of his offshoot brands, EasyCoffee, is set to open “several” coffee shops in Nottingham. Reports say that over 300 people are interested in opening a franchise.
