20 jobs lost as Coast to Coast shuts Nottingham restaurant

Nottingham’s overcrowded dining scene has taken a blow after the owners of a restaurant in intu Victoria’s clocktower dining area is set to close by the end of the month, with the loss of 20 jobs

A spokesperson for The Restaurant Group confirmed to TheBusinessDesk.com that American restaurant and bar Coast to Coast is set to close its Nottingham unit in the shopping centre.

Last month The Restaurant Group (TRG) instructed real estate adviser Savills to sell 23 of its former restaurants in England, Scotland and Wales.

The portfolio includes the former Joe’s Kitchen restaurants in the intu Victoria Centre shopping centre in Nottingham and intu Derby.

Coast to Coast declined to comment on the news.

Intu Victoria general manager Nigel Wheatley, said: “We’re disappointed to hear that Coast to Coast is closing its store here.

“This is a commercial decision taken by the restaurant and we would like to wish their staff well.

“We’re always working hard to refresh our store line-up with new and exciting retailers and we’ll be in a position to announce new brands soon.”
