Traffic alert: Accident on M1 northbound in Notts

Commuters using the M1 in north Nottinghamshire are set for delays this evening after an accident.

The accident is on the northbound carriageway between J27 for A608 Hucknall and J28 for A38 Alfreton.

Highways England is saying that four lanes closed and there is very slow-moving traffic.

There are reports of four miles of tailbacks.

UPDATE, 17.54pm: All lanes are now open, but Highways England are saying it will be some time before traffic conditions are back to normal.
