On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Richard Johal

Richard Johal, director of the St James Hotel in Nottingham, is joining the board of directors of the Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID).

Johal is joining the board to represent the interests of the BID’s hotel members, replacing Tom Waldron Lynch following his relocation to a business outside the BID area.

Johal is also chairman of the Nottingham Hospitality Association (formerly the Nottingham Hoteliers Association), a position he has held for the past two years.

He said: “I am really pleased to be joining the board. I am passionate about Nottingham and keen to play my part in helping the city flourish. I’m looking forward to getting involved and taking an active role within the Nottingham BID so that I can put something back into the city.”

Jeff Allen, chairman of the Nottingham BID, said: “It is great news that Richard is joining the board. As the director of a hotel in the city centre and chairman of the Nottingham Hospitality Association, he brings a wealth of relevant experience. This will ensure the hotel sector is properly represented and their needs considered while planning the next three years of BID activities.”

Ben Byatt

Nottingham-based civil and electrical engineering company McCann has appointed Ben Byatt as an ICP supervisor.

The news comes as the firm has successfully achieved National Electrical Registration Scheme (NERS) accreditation, operated by Lloyd’s Register, and is registered as an Independent Connections Provider (ICP).

Byatt said: “McCann has a strong health and safety culture and high standards when it comes to the delivery of its contracts throughout the business. I am excited to work for a company that is one of the leaders within its industry.”
