Green light given for Nottingham city centre office scheme

Plans to turn the former Queen’s Hotel building, near Nottingham’s railway station, into offices have been given the green light.

Nottingham City Council has given the go-ahead to CHI Investments, a company owned by Chek Whyte and his son Charles, to turn the building into 8,266 sq ft of office space.

The former pub has latterly been used as a fireplace showroom, but has been empty for around three years. CHI Investments has recently bought the building, and will change it into offices.

The building will retain its 21 car parking spaces.

A design and access statement for the development reads: “This document hopefully demonstrates, in conjunction with the accompanying scheme drawings, that the proposed change of use is appropriate in the context of maintaining the existing building within its local setting and in doing so will help to ensure its overall viability and long term sustainability through an alternative classification.”
