East Midlands Airport emergency landing incident to be investigated

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has sent a team to investigate an occurrence to a Boeing 737 at East Midlands Airport, Leicestershire.
The incident late last week after a Ryanair flight from Stansted to Copenhagen had to make an emergency landing at East Midlands Airport, with the plane having lost one of its wheels after take-off.
Traffic on the M1 was held up while the plane landed at East Midlands, while a number of other flights were delayed.
A spokesperson for Ryanair said: “This flight from Stansted to Copenhagen diverted to East Midlands because of the loss of one of its two nose wheels after take-off.
“The aircraft landed safely in East Midlands, customers disembarked and will board a replacement aircraft shortly.”
The AAIB investigates air accidents in the UK and is a branch of the Department for Transport.
