Plans revealed for huge Nottingham city centre mixed-use scheme
Plans for a 240,000 sq ft city centre mixed-use development that will include retail, residential and student accommodation have been submitted to Nottingham City Council.
Documents seen by TheBusinessDesk.com show that developer Sherriff Way Nottingham wants to build the scheme on land on Crocus Street that has been derelict for some years – before the former buildings on the site were demolished in 2012.
It will include 177 private rented sector units, 420 student flats as well as shops and a gym and be designed by Stephenson Studio, which was worked extensively on the regeneration of Manchester city centre.
The plans outline a large central courtyard with a gap on either side of the building to encourage public access.
The developers and Stephenson Studio have held six meetings with Nottingham City Council from December 2016 to August 2017 to discuss the plans. A public consultation was held at the Queens Walk Community Centre in the city in December.
A design statement reads: “[The development] will promote the highest quality standard of urban design and architecture in Nottingham city centre [and] regenerate gap sites of poor quality development and run down appearance.”
