On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Forterra has announced the appointment of a new head of health and safety.

Humphreys, who is based at the company’s Somercotes site in Derbyshire, has significant experience gained in H&S roles over the past 20 years, including five years working in the industrial materials sector.

He said: “I am looking forward to the opportunity to set the direction and strategy for H&S culture, with the aim of preventing ill-health and accidents.

“Forterra is an expanding business, benefiting from significant history and expertise, which has a commanding position in the building products sector. Heavy manufacturing is an industry I’ve enjoyed working in before and I’m very happy to be returning to the field.”

Stephen Harrison, chief executive of Forterra said: “Paul brings the vital experience and expertise needed to further strengthen our health and safety processes as a leading building products manufacturer. His strategy is well thought through and we look forward to see its results.”

Planning and urban design consultancy nineteen47 has appointed town planner Tom Collins as an associate director.

He has joined the firm’s Nottingham office from WYG to head up its Midlands planning consultancy and brings over 10 years of experience.

Collins said: “I’m really excited to join the team at nineteen47, especially as I’ve known the Directors for many years. I’m particularly looking forward to working alongside our urban designers, as I feel that our combined disciplines will enable us to offer clients a joined-up service that is truly responsive to their needs.

“nineteen47 has rapidly established itself as a planning and urban design consultancy of the highest quality, and I look forward to contributing to its continued growth and success.”

Founding director of nineteen47, Jamie Pyper, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Tom on board. He brings a wealth of experience working on major projects in a variety of sectors.
