Major Nottinghamshire housing development gets green light

The layout of the new scheme

Planning permission has been granted for a major new residential scheme in Nottinghamshire that will see 282 homes build off Toton Lane in Stapelford.

The development includes a mix of two to five bedroom homes and includes affordable housing. It was also designed to facilitate the future provision of a tram link between the existing tram terminus in the east and the planned HS2 hub to the west.

The design work was carried out by the urban design team at nineteen47 on behalf of Peveril Homes.

Ben Williams from nineteen47 said: “Our brief was to develop a new community that was identifiably inspired by the garden suburb principles. Key to this was a strong hierarchy of streets which provide enough space for trees and hedge planting. Strong groups of buildings were also developed to complement the nodal green spaces planned across the site.”
