On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Julian Rosser

Accountancy firm Smith Cooper has hired VAT and indirect tax senior manager, Julian Rosser.

Joining from PKF Cooper Parry, Rosser will be based primarily at Smith Cooper’s Nottingham office in the Lace Market, but operate across the wider Midlands.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining the team at Smith Cooper. They are one of the most progressive firms in the Midlands, and have established an enviable reputation in the marketplace, particularly in their specialist service line offering.”

Gavin West, head of VAT and indirect taxes, added: “We are so glad to be welcoming Julian to the team. With him he brings a wealth of experience and infectious enthusiasm that will really cater to our diverse range of clients.

“Julian’s appointment demonstrates our strength in the marketplace and his knowledge and experience will contribute to the continued growth of the practice.”

Carolyne Byrne

Law firm Roythornes Solicitors has appointed a new head of trust services to support the private client team and head up Roythornes Trustees Limited (RTL).

Carolyn Byrne joins the team from Shoosmiths.

RTL is an extension of the top 150 national law firm which was set up specifically to provide an alternative option for the appointment of professional trustees, where it may be appropriate to appoint a trust corporation. Byrne will be dividing her time between the firm’s Spalding headquarters and its Nottingham office.

She said: “I’m excited to be joining such a well-respected team and I am looking forward to growing the Roythornes trust offerings as it is a clear area for expansion.

“My role will include overseeing the creation and maintenance of the trust database, the provision of annual trust administration services and managing RTL. I can’t wait to utilise my experience to help develop these key areas, as well as the private client team and also the Roythornes presence across the East Midlands and Anglia.”
