Hour-long delays on M1 after collision

Motorists on the M1 northbound in Leicestershire are currently experiencing severe delays of around an hour between J22 (Coalville, Ashby, A511) and J24 (Nottingham, A453).

This is due to a multi-vehicle collision earlier between J23a (East Midlands Airport A453, Stoke (A50), Derby (A6), Donington Park Services) and J24. The incident has now been cleared and all lanes have reopened but the residual delays will take some time to clear.

Highways England is advising road users to allow additional time for their journey if planning on using this section of the M1 northbound.
