Leicester waste firm lands multimillion-pound funding deal

Bakers Waste Services and sister business Driving Talent have landed a multimillion-pound finance package from HSBC UK.
The Leicester firm, which employs 120 people, says it will use the cash to expand its paper, glass and card recycling offering as demand increases for reduction of waste going to landfill.
Paul Baker, managing director of Bakers Waste Services, said: “With the UK’s increasing focus on sustainability, we’re seeing a rise in demand for recycling services – and we’re perfectly placed to meet this need.”
The funding provided by HSBC UK will also support the expansion of Driving Talent, a separate business created by Paul Baker in 2017. Driving Talent offers LGV, forklife and Hiab driving recruitment and training, and is planning to double the size of its workforce this year.
Roger Pratt, area director in the East Midlands HSBC UK, added: “We’re delighted to have been able to support in this next phase of growth for Bakers Waste and Driving Talent and to help British business based in the Midlands. This finance package will enable Bakers Waste to push forward its ambitious aims and meet the rising demand for commercial waste services and recycling.”
