On the move: the latest East Midlands hires
Nikki Aston, a family law specialist at the Nottingham office of Buckles Solicitors, has become chair of the committee of the Nottingham & East Midlands branch of Resolution.
Resolution is a national organisation of family lawyers who are all committed to non-confrontational divorce, separation and other family problems. It also campaigns on family law issues and the family justice system. It has 6,500 members nationally and approaching 200 in the East Midlands.
Aston has considerable experience across a wide range of family law issues. She is also a mediator and an accredited specialist in private law children matters. She was previously joint secretary of the Nottingham and East Midlands branch of Resolution.
She said: “I’m looking forward to taking on this role. My hope is to reinvigorate interest among local family lawyers. We have a programme of interesting speakers for our evening events this year, offering updates and training, together with the opportunity to network.”
Martin Berry
Nottingham Playhouse has announced the appointment of Martin Berry to the newly-created position of head of participation.
The theatre’s participation department aims to enrich its range of accessible projects, which take place both at Nottingham Playhouse and in the local communities of Nottinghamshire.
Berry said: “Theatres, and especially regional theatres should be places where everybody matters. We have the power to create truly life-changing experiences and to give a voice to local and untold stories. I am clear that the Playhouse must be accessible, positive and relevant to everyone in our wonderful city. No matter who you are and what your background is, you are welcome to come in, to talk to us and to take part in our work.
“I look forward very much to working with the brilliant Playhouse team, to meeting as many communities and local people as possible and to building new partnerships as Nottingham Playhouse enters the next stage of its ambitious artistic mission.”
