Green light for huge Leicester student scheme

Developer Watkin Jones has secured planning permission for another huge student accommodation schee in Leicester.

The firm will build the 12-storey, 462-bed development next to its 601-bed Merlin Heights scheme, which was completed in 2016.

The new development will also feature a commercial unit on the ground floor.

Richard Simpson, chief executive of Watkin Jones, said: “We continue to see positive momentum across all key areas of the business. Our six PBSA schemes for delivery in FY 2019 are on track for completion ahead of the 2019/20 academic year and we continue to see an encouraging pipeline of potential future sites across the UK.”
