Digital agency boss reveals new leadership approach as MD set to depart

The boss of a Nottingham-based digital agency has said the recent restructuring of her company is part of a new leadership structure at the firm.

Susan Hallam, founder and chief executive of Hallam, also confirmed to TheBusinessDesk.com that managing director Stuart Ross is leaving the company in an “amicable departure”.

Last month, Susan Hallam said she took the “difficult decision” to make 11 people redundant, saying the company now has “different people requirements”.

Speaking late last week, Hallam told us that Ross has “added real value” to the business, but that he has “other avenues he wants to pursue”.

She said: “We’re introducing a new collaborative leadership style, with a flatter organisational structure. We need this new approach because we’re now working with new kinds of clients. We want highly-skilled staff in the business and are currently looking to create three jobs. It’s been a difficult time for the business, but if want to carry on growing we need to change.”

Meanwhile, Hallam has been shortlisted in two categories in the Google Premier Partner awards.

The first award the PPC team has been nominated in recognises skills in delivering Google Shopping campaigns that have boosted client sales.

The team has also been nominated in a second category, the Growing Businesses Online award which is awarded to agencies who demonstrate unrivaled expertise in business growth online. In particular, Google is looking for a track record in helping clients to reach new milestones.

Head of digital Ben Wood said: “This is the third year that Team Hallam has been shortlisted for the Google Premier Partner Awards, and in particular I’m proud to be one of 25 agencies representing 12 different countries across Europe, Middle East and Africa to be nominated for the Growing Businesses Online award.”
