Leicestershire agencies merge to create new company

Martin Wood and Craig Johnstone

Two Leicestershire-based marketing firms have merged to create a new full-service agency.

Web agency Pixel Labs, of Leicester, has merged with Loughborough marketing services company Mulberry Square to create GoGo Marketing.

Martin Wood founded Pixel Labs in 2002 initially as a web design agency, but the firm has since expanded its services to incorporate digital marketing.

Mulberry Square offers digital and creative marketing services for both web and print. It was established by Craig Johnstone in 2003.

The new company will build websites, eCommerce platforms and apps and offer digital marketing and online advertising servcies. It has already begun operating out of the old Pixel Labs offices in St Martins Square in the heart of Leicester city centre.

Wood and Johnstone have become technical director and commercial director respectively whilst continuing as shareholders in the business, while Andy Cameron-Smith has been appointed as the agency’s new managing director. Cameron-Smith has over 25 years’ experience in internal and external communications for The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, the Energy Technologies Institute and latterly at Midlands agency spottydog communications.

Wood said: “The rationale behind the merger was simple. Both agencies had strong track records, Pixel as a web design agency and Mulberry with its wider marketing services and print credentials. So, putting them together makes perfect sense and creates a stronger proposition for our clients with a bigger and more specialised team of marketing professionals. We can now fully service needs across digital platforms and the more traditional print medium which remains important to a number of businesses.”

Johnstone added: “This is an exciting time. We have done this to invest in and grow the business. The addition of Andy and his corporate communications experience complements the commercial and entrepreneurial experience of Martin and myself to create a strong management team to move the business forward. The merger has already created three new positions in the enlarged business, and we are focused on creating employment and supporting the next generation of marketing talent as we seek to grow our client base.”
