New concert venue for Nottingham unveiled

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is set to launch a new concert venue for the city.

NTU’s University Hall opens its doors this autumn, presenting live classical and contemporary music.

The former Wesleyan Chapel on Shakespeare Street will host two new concert series, featuring professional musicians from across the UK and beyond.

The University Hall Concert Series launches with a performance on Friday 11 October by the award-winning Florilegium playing the works of Bach, Purcell and Handel.

They will be followed by shape-shifting group The Riot Ensemble on Tuesday 22 October as part of the Groundbreaking series.

Professor Edward Peck, vice chancellor at NTU, said: “We are proud to be launching two new concert series at University Hall this year, bringing Nottingham the very best in established and contemporary classical music.

“Add that to the events and activities of Bonington Gallery, Metronome and NTU Music, and we are making a real impact on the local creative scene – providing high-quality, inspiring and innovative cultural experiences.”
