An internationally renowned sports and exercise medicine specialist has established a new physiotherapy business in Nottingham.

Nottingham Physio, based at Roko Health Club in West Bridgford, is the brainchild of Johnny Wilson.

Wilson has over 17 years’ experience working in various roles within professional sport, the private sector and the NHS and and regularly speaks at international conferences. He has also been published in some of the field’s top journals.

He said: “I’m really passionate about this new venture and look forward to positioning Nottingham as a centre of excellence for sport and exercise medicine catering for all.”

Ian Roberts, director at Nottingham Physio, said: “I have known Johnny for a number of years and I’m delighted to be involved in this new venture with him.  We have signed a long term contract with Roko Health Club which gives us a local platform to provide a wide range of specialist physiotherapy services. We would like to thank Julie Bowley of Roko for all her support on this venture and we look forward to working with her and everyone else at Roko. In the longer term we are looking at other facilities and ventures locally, nationally and internationally as we continue our journey in the fast paced and exciting arena of sport and exercise medicine.”

A handpicked team of clinicians will offer Shockwave therapy, sports therapy, acupuncture, individualised fitness programs and nutritional plans at the new practice.

Former England, Manchester United and Notts County footballer Alan Smith added: “In my career, I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the best sports medicine professionals in the business but Johnny Wilson is one of the best and I look forward to working with him as the business develops on an international level.”
