Manufacturer sells two divisions to US firms

Burton-on-Trent-based manufacturing group Doncasters has announced the sale of two of its businesses to US firms.

Blaenavon Forgings has been acquired by private equity firm Arlington Capital Partners, while Doncasters’ UK Fabrications business has been snapped up by Radius Aerospace, which is backed by Arlington Capital Partners.

Mid-market investment banking and asset management firm Alantra, which has offices in Birmingham and Nottingham, advised on the deals.

Blaenavon Forgings manufactures high-precision forgings for the aerospace and defence sector. UK Fabrications, meanwhile, designs and manufactures exhaust components and airfoils for blue-chip aircraft engine manufacturers such as Rolls-Royce and Safran.

The Alantra team advising Doncasters comprised Wade Aust, David Waldstein and Jackson Rimpas from the firm’s Boston, USA, office, plus Birmingham-based Richard Benyahia and Oliver Hickley.

Aust, partner and managing director, and Waldstein, director at Alantra, said: “We are delighted to have advised Doncasters, a leading global manufacturing business with a strong British heritage founded over 240 years ago. This deal demonstrates our unique ability to combine global aerospace and defence sector expertise with local market-leading execution. Our cross-border team used their relationships with specialist financial investors and leading trade buyers to secure the best solution for Doncasters.”
