Geographical expansion pays off for listed law firm

Knights CEO David Beech

Law firm Knights, which has offices across the Midlands including in Derby, Leicester and Stoke, says it has experienced a double digit increase in revenue thanks to the success of its recent acquisitions.

The company expanded into Birmingham earlier this month when it acquired legal practice Emms Gilmore Liberson for £4.7 million – its fifth acquisition since its listing in 2018.

Now, in a trading update for the half year ended 31 October, the firm says it is reaping the benefits of extending its geographical footprint.

Knights CEO David Beech said: “We continue to make excellent progress toward the 2020 targets we set out at IPO. The recent acquisition in Birmingham has expanded our geographic base and provides an exciting platform for growth, following on from the significant presence we are building in Manchester.”

The company also added 43 new fee earners during the first half of the year, and says the new additions have had a similarly positive impact on its performance.

Beech added: “I am also encouraged by the Group’s continued momentum in successfully recruiting high calibre fee earners into our business, which provides a strong foundation for further growth into the full year and beyond.”
