On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Rachel Bushell

East Midlands-based law firm Nelsons has appointed a new associate in its Derby office.

Rachel Bushell, who worked for Nelsons earlier in her career, has re-joined the firm’s conveyancing team.

Bushell specialises in freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, unregistered property, shared ownership, re-mortgages, help to buy equity schemes and transfers of equity.

She said: “It was an easy decision to come back to Nelsons and familiar surroundings. The law firm continues to hold a strong reputation, particularly when it comes to taking great care of its staff and clients.”

Chris Huntingford, head of Nelsons’ residential conveyancing department, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Rachel back to the team in Derby. Her experience and expertise in the complex areas of conveyancing make her an incredibly valuable asset for our team.”

Elsewhere, Northampton-based care home developer Perseus Land & Developments has appointed a new senior development surveyor.

Holly Pullinger joins the company from Octopus Real Estate, where she oversaw the acquisition of primary care property totaling £30 million.

Perseus was launched in September 2018 with funding supplied by regional real-estate development and investment company Barwood Capital.

Founder Duncan Ford said: “Our first year has been strong in terms of site acquisitions, owing much to Barwood’s financial capabilities and our USP of being able to acquire compelling sites without planning consent in place and/or which are too large for our competitors. This enables us to deliver more opportunities and invest in local communities to build high-quality care homes, meeting the needs of older people while also delivering healthy investor returns.

“With various pre-let discussions taking place with care home operators and our strong pipeline, we have been able to expand the team. We warmly welcome Holly who has strong public and private healthcare sector experience and a legal background which I have no doubt will be of benefit as we continue to grow the business.”
