Lincolnshire events space to be transformed following major investment

The EXO Centre

Lincolnshire Showground has invested over £800,000 in the renovation of its Exhibition Hall.

The EXO Centre, which is owned by Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, will now become a contemporary and inclusive education and events facility with sustainability at its heart.

Originally built in the 1960s for Lincolnshire Agricultural Society members, the Exhibition Hall has been used predominantly for educational events, hosting 752 in the last 10 years and being visited by over 7,000 children, parents and teachers in the last 12 months.

Work has now begun on the 1,623 sq m site, with construction expected to wrap up in May. The entrance and reception area of the building will be completely renovated, while the main hall will be transformed into a multi-functional educational space.

The works will also include the addition of Changing Places facilities, a new roof with a “Busbar” system and a new landscaped courtyard.

Evans McDowall Architects, contractor JMH, project management consultant Thornton-Firkin, electrician EJ Parker, Mid Lincs Plumbers and demolition company Bloom have been enlisted to carry out the project.

Jayne Southall, CEO at Lincolnshire showground, said: “The Showground and its events continue to thrive and more than ever it is our aim to promote education and health and wellbeing in energy-efficient spaces that are accessible to everyone.

“The EXO Centre will allow our Education team to reach more young people with an increased number of diverse and interactive events, and to facilitate the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society’s charitable work.

“The new EXO Centre is not just a great addition to the Showground, but to Lincolnshire as a whole and we are so pleased that it will be complete in time for visitors to experience at our ever-popular Lincolnshire Show in June.”
