On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Steve Glynn

East Midlands-based brand agency Champions (UK) has appointed a new head of corporate development.

Steve Glynn joins the firm from Nottingham’s Alea Casino, where he worked as venue director.

He will be responsible for growing the agency’s presence in London as well as continuing to expand its footprint across the East Midlands.

Glynn previously held roles at some of London’s most iconic casinos including The Ritz, 50 St James, Empire Casino and Les Ambassadeurs, and also spent time in South Africa working at Johannesburg’s Emerald Resort and Casino.

He said: “Having previously been a client of Champions I know exactly about the benefits and support that the company can offer.

“With this in mind it was an easy decision to come on board. I’ve been retired for the last 13 months but missed the buzz of the working world. With this in mind I jumped at the chance when this opportunity with Champions became available to me.

“I’ll be using my knowledge of the business communities Champions operates in as well as the relationships I’ve made from my time in the casino industry to help us continue to succeed in this new decade.”

The appointment comes just a few weeks after the agency opened a new £1 million digital centre.

John Clarke

Elsewhere, wealth management business Fiscal Engineers has made two major additions to its team.

The company, which now looks after more than half a billion pounds’ worth of assets, has recruited former Treasury economic adviser John Clarke as its new chief investment officer. In his new role, Clarke will head up the Investment and Risk Committee (IRC) at the Nottingham-based firm.

Neil Wright

Meanwhile, Neil Wright, whose 30-year career in wealth management has included spells as an executive director at UBS and a director at PwC, has also joined as a member of the IRC.

Founder and chairman Shane Mullins said: “We draw on combined experience, collective wisdom and a diversity of expertise to provide our clients with an ideal money-life balance.

“Having people of John and Neil’s calibre on the team will make our investment models even more solid and future-proof as the world becomes more uncertain and changeable.”

Fiscal Engineers also has offices in London and Birmingham.
