Damage to cause delays and cancellations between London and Nottingham

Trains between Nottingham and London St Pancras could be delayed or cancelled this morning after damage to overhead electric lines was found near Luton Airport Parkway.

Network Rail is on site and working to resolve the fault. Whilst the work is being carried out some lines will be closed.

A statement from East Midlands Railway said: “To facilitate the closed lines we will cancel some of our trains on the London St Pancras/Nottingham/Sheffield routes throughout the morning. Trains that are able to run will run with delays.

“Trains running through the area in the London St Pancras direction will be delayed by 20 minutes between Luton and London St Pancras.

“Trains running through the area in the Luton direction will be delayed by 20 minutes between London St Pancras and Luton.

“At present Network Rail are expected to have a cleared the closed lines at 10:30. As soon as the problem is fixed our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 12:00.”
