Greggs has signed a 10-year lease for approximately 3,000 sq ft of space at Albion Gateway in Burton-on-Trent.

The bakery giant’s arrival at St Modwen’s 10-acre scheme is expected to bring around 10 jobs to the local area.

Albion Gateway includes 82,700 sq ft of retail, leisure and commercial space. The scheme is home to several industrial and logistics businesses, including James Hargreaves Plumbing Depot, engineering firm Beck & Pollitzer and MKM Building Supplies.

Gemma Butler, asset manager at St. Modwen Industrial & Logistics, said: “This scheme is delivering economic growth and significant employment opportunities for people local to Burton-upon-Trent. Our agreement with Greggs greatly improves the retail offer at Albion Gateway, expanding our diverse set of occupiers at the scheme. I’m sure both our existing tenants and the local public are pleased to see the opening of the popular chain.”

Greggs’ retail and people director Roisin Currie said: “We are delighted to be creating 10 local jobs for the people of Burton-upon-Trent following the opening of our new shop at Albion Gateway this month.”

Conor Mulloy, associate partner at Cheetham & Mortimer, added: “We are pleased to have completed this deal with Greggs and are pleased to be welcoming them to the scheme. This deal only adds to the popularity of Albion Gateway and we expect it will bring further new business.”
