Relic of Nottingham’s industrial past to get new lease of life

Plans to build a huge new student accommodation scheme in Nottingham have been given the go-ahead.
The decision will see a prominent building of Nottingham’s industrial past given new life.
Players Property Company will turn the former John Player building in Radford into a 197-bed student development. The company had initially submitted plans for a 211-bed scheme, but this has since been revised down.
The scheme will include the part restoration and part new-build of the building, which was devastated by a huge fire in 2015. It has been untouched since.
The project is expected to be completed for the 2021 academic year.
