Plans revealed for major city centre mixed-use scheme

Plans show a mixture of residential and retail space

Plans for a new mixed-use scheme in Leicester city centre have been submitted to City Council.

Living Choice Investments wants to develop a site next to the recently-completed hotels and offices scheme on Highcross Street. It would include an eight storey apartment scheme with 100 homes and retail on the ground floor.

A planning statement accompanying the application reads: “For many years the Highcross area has suffered from being severed from the city centre by the ring road and this has contributed to it being characterised by poor quality townscape and a number of vacant sites and buildings that are in a poor condition.

“The proposal will deliver greatly needed residential development and commercial floor space on a significant brownfield site.”
