Work on a £20m luxury development of new homes in Leicestershire has resumed.

Springbourne Homes had closed its Hornsey Rise site, near Market Bosworth, seven weeks ago when the Prime Minister ordered a nationwide lockdown because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now the firm is back building 19 luxury homes at the 10-acre location in Wellsborough, but with a strict set of new safety measures in place to protect staff, sub-contractors and suppliers.

Springbourne’s chief executive Lee Harris said: “We carefully assembled everyone at the development, making sure there was two metres social distancing between us, and I outlined the new rules and guidelines we were now putting in place.

“In the face of the coronavirus pandemic it is clear we have to learn new ways of working, movement, lo- gistics and process.

“Rules will be fluid and process will be defined by experience as we find and develop innovative ways to keep us all safe.”

At the meeting, the Springbourne boss insisted that everyone’s safety was paramount and that there would be “no compromises” in protecting them from coronavirus.

He added: “The underlying tone was to thank our team for returning safely and also how we must work to- gether to protect each other, all our families and the site.

“That will be achieved by building trust in the total wellbeing of our team and our connected network. That is our top priority. Nothing is more important than everyone’s health and safety.”
