Lender helps telecoms firm dial up acquisition

Ashby-based lender ThinCats has provided a multimillion-pound funding package to enable a telecoms firm to complete its first acquisition.

ThinCats has drawn up a funding package to help Windsor Telecom accelerate its growth and snap up IT services provider Keen IT Solutions.

Pete Tomlinson, CEO at Camberley-based Windsor Telecom, said: “With five generations now working side by side for the first time and the rapid adoption of new tech, we’re delighted these steps will allow us to do even more to help our customers quickly take advantage of the rapidly converging worlds of software, communications and IT services.

“Keen IT is our first acquisition and they were an obvious choice because they share the same values and culture of customer service as we do, while their technical skills in managed IT services complement our existing capabilities perfectly. We’re delighted to welcome the Keen IT customers and colleagues to the Windsor team.”

Phil Keen, founder at Keen IT, added: “I’ve known Windsor Telecom for a long time and now felt the perfect moment to join forces with a company of their scale and expertise. I can’t wait to merge our skills for the benefit of our joint customers.”

Keen will join Windsor in a newly created role as Head of Technology.

Dave Sherrington, regional head of sales at ThinCats, said: “The IT & communications industry has never been more important than it is today, providing solutions and services that are vital to keeping businesses running. As a fast growing and flexible lender, we love backing successful and ambitious management teams, so it’s great to be able to help Windsor scale their vision of making technology easy and enjoyable.”

Windsor was advised by Acuity Advisors working in partnership with Altenburg Advisory on the transaction.
