National building supplies firm agrees Centrix Park lease

MKM Building Supplies has agreed a lease for a 19,000 sq ft stand-alone unit at Centrix Park, Corby.

The unit offers a large open plan warehouse, trade counter and office space to the ground floor.

MKM Building Supplies is the UK’s largest independent builders’ merchant, with over 70 branches across England and Scotland.

Andrew Pine, new branch development director of MKM Building Supplies, said: “Our unique business model allows us to react quickly to opportunities and expand in line with the company’s wider business objectives.

“The move to Corby presents great opportunities for MKM and the local area. Not only does it offer an affordable and commercially viable trading location, but the towns industrial heritage is a perfect fit for our product offer and industry expertise.

“We plan to be on-site and fitting out the new unit by the end of Q3 2020.”

James Richards, development director at Clowes Developments, added: “All things considered, a global pandemic, adverse weather conditions and news of a fresh recession, we feel this deal leaves an optimistic line in the sand for positive things to come for the town of Corby.

“Additionally, we are nearing completion on our new development, Omega Court where we have a range of unit sizes available for sale and lease, with 20% already ‘under offer’. Interested parties are encouraged to contact joint agents TDBRE and Prop-search to discuss their requirements further.”

While the business park will continue to be built out and managed by Clowes Developments, the unit MKM has taken has been sold in a separate deal to an investor for an undisclosed sum.
