Derby entrepreneur snaps up Welsh water brand

A Derby entrepreneur has acquired a Welsh producer of mineral, spring and tonic waters.

The deal sees Bobby Nanua buy Tŷ Nant Spring Water, based in Bethania on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains in west Wales. The company’s products come in a distinctive blue bottle.

Nanua is behind the Mama’s Events & Hospitality business, as well as Elev8 Mobile Bars and the Gin and Rum Festival held in Derby.

Martyn Brierley, Flint Bishop’s head of corporate and finance, and senior property associate Andy Stokes advised Nanua on the legal aspects of the deal, while Janet Morgan and Gary Devonshire, partners of Smith Cooper, provided tax advice.

Nanua said: “Martyn and the Flint Bishop team were instrumental in getting this deal over the line within the challenging time frame we had to complete. Martyn and his team were available at all times, including in evenings and over weekends to see this deal successfully concluded.”

“The clarity and timely delivery of expert legal advice in all areas of the deal were second to none.”
