Apartments plan for part of city centre hotel space given go-ahead

Plans to convert the conference facilities of a city centre hotel into flats, have been given the green light by Nottingham City Council.

Richard Johal, who owns the St James Hotel in the city, will turn the space, located on the upper floors of 102 Friar Lane, into 14 apartments made up of 8 x 1 bed and 6 x 2 bed flats.

A planning statement reads: “The building is currently under-used and the proposed uses will safeguard the future of the building. The proposed change of use will not affect the character or appearance of the Castle Conservation Area alterations or cause harm to the significance of any designated or non-designated heritage assets.”
