Selcon to return to stage at Hot Property 2024
As Nottingham Hot Property 2024 gets ever closer, Sam Fowkes, managing director at yearly event sponsor Selcon, caught up with us with his thoughts on the event in its 20th year, including the ‘summer vibes’ theme and what we can expect from his performance this year.
How many years have you supported/attended Hot Property?
This will be Selcon’s fourth year sponsoring and for me, my sixth year as a participant.
Why is Hot Property so important to you? Why did you want to sponsor the event?
I love the whole event. From its concept to its execution, the involvement of local businesses and people in varying roles, how much it helps the charities we sponsor, right down to people just having a good celebration – it truly is fantastic.
At Selcon, we want to sponsor the event for all of the above reasons really, I just love that we can be part of it.
What’s your favourite Hot Property memory or performance from over the years and why?
My favourite Hot Property memory is probably Matt Hutton from Bond Bryan Architect’s performance as Freddie Mercury. He was fantastic, as he generally is, but that was really a standout performance for me.
Hot Property has been going now since 2004. What were you doing 20 years ago?
20 years ago, I was 21 and a Site Manager for Baggaley Construction.
The only photo I can find from that year is from my 21st Birthday Party where my family and friends organised a less than PG gift for me!
What are you looking forward to most about Hot Property this year?
I am most looking forward to the revised format and festival type setting. It will make a change and I think encourage more and new involvement.
Can you give us a sneaky clue about what we can expect from your performance this year?
Subject to song confirmation you can expect mediocre singing. The performance will be elevated by effort and enthusiasm!
