Well-known tax partner retires after 20 years with firm

Philip Rogers

After 20 years in Cooper Parry’s tax team, Philip Rogers, one of the accountancy firm’s partners, is retiring.

When Rogers joined Cooper Parry from PwC in 2000, its tax team was delivering £1m of fees a year. As Rogers retires, the firm has expanded into London and other hubs up and down the UK, with its tax team recently delivering £1m of fees in a month.

Simon Baines, head of tax at Cooper Parry, said: “Philip was a huge part of the journey from ‘sleepy tax’ to where we are now, and in truth, none of us would be here without him. Philip was part of my inspiration. He pushed me out of my comfort zone. He inspired me to achieve great things.

“As soon as he arrived at CP, our tax business became a better place, but really, everywhere was a better place when Philip walked in. Everyone loved him – not just in the team but across our client base too – and he’ll be sorely missed.

“I know the team will join me in wishing Philip all the best, and I know I couldn’t ask for a group better suited to take his legacy forward.”
