270-bed student scheme gets planning approval

How the scheme will look

Revised plans to build a 270-bed student scheme on the University of Nottingham’s Jubilee Campus in Lenton have been given the go-ahead.

The council’s planning committee have given their backing to the scheme, developed by Cassidy and designed by Maber Architects.

Triumph House will feature 122 secure cycle spaces as well as landscaping.

The latest application is a redesign from previous submissions in 2018 and 2019, which was granted planning permission last March.

Until 2017 the site was occupied by warehouses and landing bays as part of John Player & Sons Triumph Road Stores. The haulage depot was absorbed in the the Raleigh Industries factory complex which operated until the mid-1990s when the section to the West of Triumph Road was demolished to make way for the Jubilee Campus.

Around 1,100 staff are based on Jubilee Campus and some 8,500 either full- or part-time students.

The site is currently being cleared by Total Reclaims and it is hoped it will be ready for occupation for the 2022 academic year.
