Fast-growing indie menswear retailer to open Nottingham store

Family-owned clothing retailer Henry George Menswear has struck a deal with FHP Property Consultants to open a new store in Nottingham City Centre.

The company, which first launched in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, in 2019, will officially open its doors at its new Bridlesmith Gate store mid-May.

The two-floor shop specialises in ’80s and ’90s casual menswear – including the latest fashion from brands such as Ben Sherman, Luke 1977 as well as store favourites FILA and Sergio Tacchini.

The new branch joins Henry George Menswear’s portfolio of stores which include those in Ilkeston and Mansfield.

“We worked with Oliver Marshall at FHP Consultants for our Mansfield store in 2020 so we approached him about the possibility of a Nottingham City Centre store at the start of this year and we’re really pleased that we have been able to negotiate the deal for our Bridlesmith Gate store with him,” said Ashley Allen, operations manager.

“Nottingham is close to our flagship store in Ilkeston, but with it being a busy city centre it offers a different scale of customer base and a great opportunity for us to grow the Henry George Menswear brand there,” Ashley continued.

Company director, Luke Slaney added: “Our plan was to open at least five stores across the East Midlands in five years and we are close to fulfilling these targets within our first two years of trading. All this goes to prove is that with the right team and hard work, anything is possible.

“All of our staff share the same ambitions in making Henry George Menswear a reputable high street name. We continue to provide a great shopping experience and this is what keeps customers back to both our stores and our web store.”
