Investigation underway after fire at city centre hotel

An investigation is underway after a blaze at Nottingham city centre hotel yesterday lunchtime (August 30).

Some 14 firefighters in breathing apparatus with two hose reel jets and positive pressure ventilation were used against a fire at the Strathdon Hotel on Derby Road in Nottingham which broke out at around 12.40pm yesterday.

Derby Road was closed for a period yesterday as crews from London Road, Stockhill, Carlton, Highfields, West Bridgford, Arnold, Stapleford and Mansfield fought the blaze, which occured over several floors of the hotel.

A statement from Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue yesterday evening said: “The incident at The Strathdon Hotel has now been resolved. Fire investigation is in progress to determine the cause.”
