People: BTR specialist adds four; new partner at law firm

Adam Baxter, Alasdair Manson, Katie Stamper and Josh Bedford

Wise Living has made four new appointments to its partnerships team.

The build-to-rent (BTR) provider already works in partnership with Lovell, Keon Homes, Seagate Homes, Strata and EQUANS, and has eight active developments across the country. This includes sites in Wolverhampton and Boston, where units are being let at a rapid pace following the opening of both developments for reservations.

The new recruits have joined Wise Living to help manage its growing number of partnerships.

Adam Baxter, Alasdair Manson and Katie Stamper all join as partnerships managers, while Josh Bedford has been appointed graduate partnerships manager.

Mark Gratton, land and partnerships director, said: “Partnerships are central to the Wise Living model and it’s great to see the team growing so significantly. Our partners have already seen that by reducing the number of open-market units and introducing BTR properties, the risk of shifting housing stock is lowered while at the same time adding a new stream of income from the BTR homes.

“Adam, Alasdair, Katie and Josh have a sound understanding of the market and believe in our core aim – setting a new standard for BTR homes in the UK. Their experience enables us to open up new markets and I can’t wait to see what they achieve.”

Law firm Sills & Betteridge has private client lawyer David Wood, who joins the firm as a partner.

Wood’s practice includes advising business owners and high net worth individuals in relation to inheritance tax, capital gains tax, wills, trusts, succession and business planning, with particular niche expertise in advising farmers, and landed estates.

He said: “I am delighted to have joined Sills & Betteridge, having seen the firm’s successful growth and strategic delivery for many years now. There is already an incredibly strong offering here at Sills & Betteridge to agriculture, landed estates, rural enterprises and businesses across the region. I look forward to supporting further growth across the firm with my specialist expertise and very loyal client and professional contact base as well as by transferring my legal and commercial knowledge to some of the hugely talented young lawyers in the firm, who are inspirational to work with.”
