Stevenson steps down as Ice Centre chair after 25 years

Mich Stevenson

After almost 25 years at the helm of one of Nottingham’s premier entertainment venues, renowned Nottingham business leader Mich Stevenson OBE DL is stepping down as chairman of the National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham.

In the late 1990s, Stevenson was invited by Nottingham City Council to oversee the transformation of the former Ice Stadium into an international-standard ice sports and entertainment venue.

Stevenson and his team have kept the venue afloat through the pandemic and managed tp steer the company through to calmer waters.

He said: “Having today signed off the National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham as a going concern after an extremely difficult trading period, I have decided the time is now right to resign and hand over to a new chair to work alongside Nottingham City Council in implementing its future plans.”

“I would like to thank my fellow directors, chief executive and every National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham employee, past and present, for their unwavering support, loyalty and kindness and I wish Nottingham Ice Centre Limited’s talented and committed executive team every success in its future”.

Stevenson’s chairmanship will end on January 31st 2022.
