Plans revealed for 15-storey apartment scheme on library site

Plans have been revealed to turn the former Nottingham Central Library on Angel Row into an apartment scheme.
The city council will work with developer Cross Residential on the plans, which will see a building of up to 15 storeys in height constructed.
The plans include transforming the ground floor of the historic building into a gym, cinema, games room, lounge, caf workspace and cycle storage area, according to reports by Nottinghamshire Live.
The project would be funded with support from the Future High Street fund.
Mark Hughes, managing director at Crosslane Residential Developments said: “Our proposed development in Nottingham represents an innovative housing solution with a wide range of shared communal amenities to ensure residents enjoy a more rewarding way of life, with improved social, mental and physical health and wellbeing.
“We have received very positive feedback from key stakeholders to date and look forward to presenting full details of proposals to the public to obtain their comments.
“We are committed to ensuring the long- term success and integration of this project into the neighbourhood and look forward to the opportunity of working with local businesses to encourage residents to shop and eat out locally within the area.”
Hughes told Nottinghamshire Live that the scheme would not house “current students”.
Nottingham has been without a main library since the Angel Row site closed in March 2020. There is still no firm date on when the new Central Library in the new Broadmarsh Bus Station complex will open.
