Derbyshire developer sells land to housebuilder

Persimmon Homes have bought a parcel of land in Coventry from Derbyshire-based Clowes Developments with planning consent for residential development.

Planning permission has been granted by the site’s local authority, Coventry City Council, with the green light given for 223 two- to four-bedroom homes. There will also be 25% affordable housing made available for local people. The new site will form part of a major residential development drive to meet Coventry City’s housing targets.

Whilst the Burnaby Road site in Coventry is facing major redevelopment, the site has a famous history as the property is, allegedly, where the first ever Aston Martin was manufactured.

A Section 106 agreement outline a payment of £1.94m towards educational services which will benefit as many as six local schools. A further £264,000 will be given to improve local parks and an additional £49,000 will be used to provide a local cycle station.

“This is a continuation and additional phase of our current and successful Whitmore Place development. Demolition is due to start this August and be completed by late summer with the development commencing soon after and early occupation planned for later in 2023.”
