People: Thorn Baker; Born Agency

Rhian Newman

Nottingham-headquartered recruitment group Thorn Baker has promoted a key member of its team to a newly created senior role.

Rhian Newman has become the firm’s new head of offsite and professional lead.

Newman, who brings 15 years’ industry experience to the role, has already helped to grow Thorn Baker’s offsite business into a nationally respected recruitment partner for clients including Balfour Beatty, Skanska and Countryside timber Frame.

She said: “This is a huge opportunity for me and something that I have been working towards for several years now. It is exciting for me personally, and for the future of the company. The new role will allow me to use my knowledge and experience to further strengthen Thorn Baker’s offering within construction recruitment and complements its existing specialties.”

Thorn Baker director Rob Ford added: “Rhian is a fantastic asset to the Thorn Baker team and contributes so much across the business, not just in Offsite and Professional. She is a real people person and someone who clearly cares and demonstrates our values on a daily basis. This is clear to see by the relationships she has built with her team, her colleagues in other offices, myself, and the rest of the Board.”

An Ollerton-based creative design company has celebrated its fifth birthday by welcoming a new member of staff and winning six new clients in six days.

Carly Rogers has joined Born Agency from an organisation in Lincoln.

Rogers, who previously worked as a creative in the education sector, said: “I’ve joined a great team of creatives who produce some incredible work – which is comparable with that of much larger agencies.

“I’m already working across existing clients, as well as getting involved in some of the new ones that have come on board recently.”

Agency founder Shaun Cole said: “We’re in the fortunate position of having a steady stream of new clients and repeat business – but for this year, we set ourselves a challenge to propel the agency forward by pinpointing six businesses and organisations that, in our opinion, needed an injection of creative branding and marketing.”

Co-founder Ben Trafford added: “And then in the space of six days, we got a ‘yes’ from each one. It was a brilliant feeling and has put Born Agency on a new trajectory – the first step of which has been to increase our team, and Carly is a talented creative who has hit the ground running.”
