Acres looking to create jobs despite sector volatility

A Nottingham construction company which has grown its team from three to thirty in the space of just two years says it is looking to take on more staff despite high levels of volatility in the sector.

Acres Construction, part of the Acres Group, is set to create a number of management level and skilled jobs at a time when several long-standing construction firms have been forced to cease trading.

The company says its rapid growth – which has seen its turnover leap from a few hundred thousand pounds to secured sales of £15m in contract value – has given it the capacity to welcome staff who have been affected by the collapse of rival firms.

Group founder Edward Acres said: “Our ambition is to become a nationally recognised business through organic growth and growth by acquisition. It has meant that the Acres Group can undertake a variety of projects types and size of development – from £500k – £20m in contract value.”

Acres established the Acres Group in 2008. The company now consists of five divisions, Acres Architects, Acres Interiors, Acres Developments, Online Media Video Productions (OMVP) and Acres Construction.

Acres said: “With our continued growth we are breeching further into the wider sectors of works such as leisure, education & commercial projects. In addition to the Acres Group reputation as a residential specialist service industry provider driven by the beating heart of the group Acres Architects.”

He added: “Despite the recent sad demise of many East Midlands contractors, we are in a period of sustained growth in our construction division and I am keen to hire as much of the recently released talent in the marketplace to assist our growing requirements!”
