Multi-vehicle collision closes M1 in Leicestershire

The M1 in Leicestershire is closed northbound between J19 (Catthorpe Interchange) and J21 (Leicester), due to a collision involving at least two vans and three cars.

The collision occurred shortly before 1.15pm this afternoon (Friday 23 September). Two of the vehicles have come to rest at an angle on the central reservation barrier. There are also reports of an oil spillage.

Leicestershire Police, Fire, Ambulance Services and National Highways Traffic Officers are on scene.
