Full fibre roll-out sees ISP go for growth

A Leicester-based company recently named the “Midlands’ Best ISP” is set to scale up its operations in the region by quadrupling the number of homes and businesses it serves.
Gigabit Networks was launched by tech entrepreneurs David Yates and Dan Ilett to help companies and residents “bridge the digital divide” via ultrafast full fibre connectivity.
Its ultrafast connection utilises infrastructure created by CityFibre, which has invested £4.9bn in full fibre optic cables across the UK.
Gigabit’s technology is currently available to 250,000 homes and businesses in Coventry, Wolverhampton, Leicester, Derby and Nottingham, but this could rise to over a million potential premises as the CityFibre infrastructure and tech roll-out continues.
The Leicester firm is also looking to extend its offering to surrounding towns.
Yates said: “We’ve had a few conversations already with investors. The key for us will be to find the right investor who understands what we are doing in the long term, and we welcome conversations with interested partners.”
