On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

(L-R): John Rouse, Chris Rowe and Kyla Bellingall

BDO LLP has strengthened its Midlands Tax team with the appointment of a new VAT partner.

Chris Rowe brings 13 years’ experience to the role having previously led the national automotive team at EY. He also brings expertise in retail and manufacturing to the position.

Rowe said: “I’m really excited to get started at BDO. The culture within the business is fantastic and truly encourages collaboration, not only within specialist teams, but across the various sector disciplines, both regionally and nationally. The opportunity to build what is already a strong VAT team, as we look to capitalise on the significant market potential, is very exciting and I’m delighted to be playing a key role in realising those ambitions in the Midlands.”

Kyla Bellingall, Midlands managing partner at BDO, said: “We’re delighted to welcome someone of Chris’ experience to the Midlands team, in what is an excellent hire for both our VAT and sector teams, as we look to solidify our presence in the regional market over the coming months and years.”

Julio Taylor, CEO of Nottingham-based marketing agency Hallam, has been appointed as CMO of “ethical hacking” company CovertSwarm.

Taylor brings over 20 years’ experience in the digital marketing sector to the cyber-attack solutions business.

His appointment also strengthens the strategic partnership between Hallam and CovertSwarm.

Taylor said: “I’m really excited to be joining the board of such an ambitious and unique company. I’ve admired the work of CovertSwarm and the founders from the very start, so I’m really happy to be part of their journey into the future.”

Anders Reeves, founder and CEO at CovertSwarm, said: “Julio’s appointment to the CovertSwarm board marks an exciting and significant next step in our strategy to challenge the status quo of the cyber industry. As CMO, his heavy-weight marketing experience will be leveraged to grow CovertSwarm’s clientbase across key territories through execution of a brand-led go to market strategy, with delivery support from the team at Hallam.”

He added: “His, and their, impact on CovertSwarm will be significant and transformative as we continue to invest to re-baseline what organisations should expect from our industry as the ‘new normal’ demonstrated through CovertSwarm’s red team, penetration testing, and cyber incident response services portfolio.”
