Jobs to go at Castle Donington mattress manufacturer

Hypnos, the mattress manufacturer, is set to make redundancies at its Castle Donington factory as it looks to “improve operational efficiency.”

Sources have told TheBusinessDesk.com that Hypnos has lost the contract to supply beds to hotel giant Premier Inn.

The news comes just two years after the firm said it was creating 50 jobs at the Castle Donington site, and what was an “exciting” time for the company.

A spokesperson from Hypnos Contract Beds told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We can confirm that we have entered into consultations with a limited number of staff in our production, logistics and installation teams at our Castle Donington factory, as we look to improve operational efficiency in 2023 under our transformation strategy.

“We are committed to minimising the impact on those involved and providing care and support to those affected, including fostering connections with local employment and support services to help them through this sensitive transition.”

Hypnos supplies mattresses to 800 Premier Inn hotels, with the chain famously making the pledge that if a guest doesn’t have a great night’s sleep, they’ll get their money back.

Hypnos didn’t confirm how many jobs would be lost at Castle Donington.
