Fire door group to create jobs following move to 13,000 sq ft premises

A trio of fire door suppliers have taken 13,000 sq ft in Ashfield and revealed ambitious plans to create more jobs in the area.

Fire Door Specialists (FDS), Doorcerts and FD Supplies were founded by Kieran Percival and Ian Maciejewski six years ago, and until recently operated out of premises in Derbyshire.

FDS, which inspects, supplies, installs and maintains fire doors, door sets and associated ironmongery, currently turns over £2.4m and is expecting to hit the £4m mark by the end of 2023.

The businesses recently completed a move to former engineering premises at Brierley Park Close, Stanton Hill, where they collectively employ 17 people.

The site has been fitted out with state-of-the-art CNC machinery and spray booths as well as reconfigured office and reception space.

Percival said: “We’re delighted to have found premises that were ideal for our purposes, and a site that is back in Ashfield, where Ian and I live.

“As our UK-wide reputation has grown, and we have added some major names to our client list, our businesses have seen excellent growth.

“But we cannot stand still. This move enables us to take the next step in our plans, which could see us take on more people.”

Maciejewski added: “There are a lot of regulations around fire safety and fire doors, and it is important to get things right. After all, it could be a matter of life and death.

“But, there are quite a few misconceptions about fire doors and what is correct. As experts in the field, as people who adhere to the very highest of standards, we are helping people to fulfil their legal and moral duties.”
