Green light to turn ‘concrete bunker’ into mixed-use scheme

Plans to turn a building dubbed a “concrete bunker” into a mixed-use scheme have been voted through by Nottingham City Council’s planning committee.
Maven Property (Nottingham) unveiled its vision for the Lower Parliament Street site in May last year after holding a public consultation on the plans, which include 104 student bedspaces.
The scheme will rise to five storeys at its highest point will be developed at the site, which is bounded by Clinton Street East, Clinton Street West and the junction of Lincoln and Thurland streets.
The scheme will include a mixture of cluster and studio flats, communal lounges, a gym, laundry and a cycle store. The existing retail units on the ground floor would be retained and space will be provided for market traders along Clinton Street East and Clinton Street.
